The principal of a Louisiana high school who punished a student for dancing at a party has requested to take a leave of absence.
Walker High School principal Jason St. Pierre recently took away the senior's scholarship after she was seen on a video dancing at an off-campus party.
He questioned the student's religious convictions and moral character.
St. Pierre's actions triggered outrage from the community who felt the Walker High School principal overstepped his authority.
The story also gained national attention over social media.
St. Pierre has since issued a public apology to the student, who also had her scholarship endorsement reinstated.
