A bill to keep foreign adversaries from buying Louisiana farmland is on its way to the House Appropriations Committee.

The bill would bar countries like Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea from buying land near military bases or industrial centers.

A similar bill made it to the governor's desk last year, but former Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards vetoed it.

Now that Republican Governor Jeff Landry is in office, the legislature is giving it another go.
