A severe weather threat looms over southeast Louisiana over the next two days ahead of a strong cold front.

"Damaging wind gusts and heavy rain will be our main concern, but a few tornadoes and large hail will also be possible. Heavy rain may lead to flash flooding. Rain totals through Wednesday night may be around 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts," said meteorologists Ashley Ruiz and Brandon Lashbrook with the BRProud Stormtracker Team.

They add that, as of now, the biggest impacts will be felt overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning through Wednesday night.

Following the passage of the cold front, temperatures will fall into the upper 50s to low 60s for afternoon highs with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.
