Michael's Eyewall Coming Ashore In Florida

UPDATE 1 p.m. Tuesday: Michael made landfall next Mexico Beach, Florida as a strong category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 155 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service is issuing a dire warning as Hurricane Michael is set to be the worst storm to ever hit Florida.

 

The service added Hurricane Michael will be the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the area in recorded history.

The National Hurricane Center said in a Noon CDT update that the eyewall was coming ashore along the coast of the Florida panhandle between St. Vincent Island and Panama City.

 

Impacts will be severe. Widespread damage to buildings, utility infrastructure, downed trees and blocked roadways are expected.

The Category 4 storm is approaching Panama City, Florida with winds clocked at 150 miles-per-hour.
