East Baton Rouge Parish School Superintendent LaMont Cole is out on bond following his arrest for corruption charges on Thursday.
Cole turned himself in the day after a grand jury indicted him for conspiracy to commit public bribery, money laundering and malfeasance in office. Cole is accused of accepting more than 40-thousand dollars in bribes in the form of cash and gifts. The charges are related to Cole's time as an East Baton Rouge Metro Councilman, not his actions while working at the school system.
