The trial of former Mayor LaToya Cantrell and former NOPD officer Jeffrey Vappie is postponed until next year.
The court has granted a motion to delay the trial from October 19, 2026 to March 15, 2027. Both defense teams requested more time to "adequately prepare for trial."
A grand jury indicted Cantrell and Vappie last summer for 18 counts of conspiracy, obstruction, and fraud.
