University of New Orleans officials plan to increase the school's enrollment as it prepares to become LSU New Orleans on July 1.

Interim chancellor Jeanette Weiland has set a goal of at least 6,000 students enrolled this fall.

She said LSUNO will target out-of-state students for recruitment by keeping tuition competitive.

The state paid off $20 million of backlogged debt that UNO had run up over the years.
