State House Considers Constitutional Convention, Term Limits For Governors

A couple of bills that would make major changes are moving through the state legislature.

Lawmakers are considering a bill that calls for a constitutional convention in 2028. Gov. Jeff Landry called for a constitutional makeover when he took office two years ago.

Term limits for governors are also on the table.

A proposed bill would enable voters to decide whether Louisiana governors can run again after serving more than one and a half consecutive terms.

The bill would affect former governors John Bel Edwards and Bobby Jindal.
