A newly enacted state law requires early career exposure activities for Louisiana students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

House Bill 286 received unanimous bipartisan support from both chambers of the Louisiana Legislature, and Gov. Jeff Landry signed it into law.

The law calls for career interest surveys, career guests in classrooms, and other career exposures. These activities will be required for graduation.

The law also is meant to help motivate students to stay in Louisiana and choose in-demand career fields.
