La. Lawmakers Consider Bills To Fund Bulletproof Vests For Police Officers

The Louisiana Legislature is considering two bills aimed at helping police departments statewide to buy bulletproof vests for their officers.

The two Senate bills would create new revenue streams dedicated to funding the purchase of protective gear for law enforcement agencies.

One bill would set up a special fund to be managed by the state treasurer.

The other would raise revenue from a specialty license plate that would go to the Capital Area Law Enforcement Foundation.
