Letlow, Fleming Advance In GOP Senate Race; Cassidy Defeated

Bill Cassidy Holds Primary Night Event In Baton Rouge

A Republican Senate primary in Louisiana is advancing to a runoff.

Congresswoman Julia Letlow led in voting. Letlow had the endorsement of President Donald Trump.

She will face State Treasurer John Fleming in the runoff.

The incumbent, Dr. Bill Cassidy, was third.

On the Democratic side, Jamie Davis is projected to advance to the runoff, with the second spot still a toss-up between Gary Crockett and Nick Albares as of late Saturday night.

The runoff is scheduled for June 27, with early voting scheduled for June 12-20.

The general election is November 3.
