City-parish employees in Baton Rouge have a pay raise scheduled for next month.

The Metro Council voted 10-to-1 on Wednesday to approve the pay hikes.

Council members approved a plan to leave unfilled 100 vacant positions that are already included in the general fund. That decision frees up nearly $5 million to cover the cost of employee raises.

The raises will take effect on June 27th.
