A 16-year-old go-kart racer from Metairie will represent Team USA this summer.
Derek Wargo Jr. started driving when he was very young after his father bought a go-kart and took him to NOLA Motor Sports in Avondale.
After a couple of years, Derek got more interested in football, baseball and track. A few months later, he returned to the race track, and by age ten, he was winning national races.
Last October, Derek placed second in Valencia, Spain. He's been selected to represent Team USA this summer in Spain, Germany, and Sweden.
