Thousands of travelers flying through New Orleans are trying to rebook their flights after the abrupt closure of Spirit Airlines.
The sudden shutdown throws 17,000 Spirit employees out of work, including all of the staff based at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
United, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest started offering "rescue fares" to Spirit customers stranded by the airline's collapse.
The capped ticket prices are only being offered for a limited time, which varies by airline.
