The suspension of Louisiana's congressional primary elections is the target of a federal lawsuit filed on Thursday.
Gov. Jeff Landry suspended the closed-party primaries for U.S. Representative. All other races on the ballot will proceed as planned.
Two voters, including one who is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House in the 5th District, filed suit claiming the suspension is illegal because early voting has already started.
The lawsuit names Landry, Attorney General Liz Murrill, and Secretary of State Nancy Landry as defendants.
