John McLindon is the new parish attorney in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The Metro Council voted 7-2 to appoint McLindon to the position in a meeting on Wednesday night. He replaces Greg Rome, who announced his retirement two months ago.
Councilwoman Carolyn Coleman voted against, saying the process was rushed. She was also concerned about a possible conflict of interest, since McLindon recently represented the husband of Councilwoman Laurie Adams.
Adams said she got the go-ahead from the state Board of Ethics.
