An inmate at the St. Landry Parish jail is on the loose after he reportedly walked out of the lockup Monday night under another inmate's name.

Officials say a bond had been set for one inmate, but Demarcus Jamal Johnson took his place and was released instead.

Investigators say Johnson faked flu symptoms and wore a medical mask so as not to be recognized.

Johnson was being held on a charge of domestic violence. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
