Two Republican judges are in the running for a seat on the Louisiana Supreme Court.

District Court Judge Billy Burris and Appellate Court Judge Blair Downing Edwards both have their eyes on the 1st Supreme Court District, which includes Livingston and Tangipahoa Parishes.

The two candidates debated at Monday's meeting of the Baton Rouge Press Club, where they agreed the court shouldn't be politicized, but otherwise questioned each other's judicial records and funding.

The election is on May 16. Early voting starts May 2.
