Louisiana drivers may soon replace their annual vehicle safety inspection sticker with a QR code on the windshield.
A proposed House bill would eliminate the requirement for third-party safety inspections.
Drivers registering their vehicles through the Office of Motor Vehicles would pay $6 for the proposed QR code, as opposed to $10 for the safety inspection fee.
Federal law would still require emissions testing for drivers in Livingston, Iberville, Ascension, and both East and West Baton Rouge Parishes.
