USGS Confirms Quake In Gulf, South Of Louisiana

The U.S. Geological Survey is confirming an earthquake in the Gulf on Sunday night.

The agency says the 3.9 magnitude quake happened at 9:22 p.m. about 220 miles south-southeast of Venice.

The undersea earthquake comes just weeks after a series of quakes in northwestern Louisiana.

"No specific causative fault has been identified for this recent earthquake," said USGS.
