The state legislature is advancing a proposal to replace vehicle inspection stickers with QR codes.
State Rep. Larry Bagley, a Republican from Stonewall, authored the bill because he says vehicle inspection stickers are outdated and unnecessary.
Bagley says the QR codes would be on a sticker to be placed on the windshield, where they would help police determine a vehicle's VIN number during a traffic stop.
The House Transportation Committee unanimously passed the bill on Monday. It now goes to the full House for debate.
