Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards is pursuing pay raises for police.

Edwards plans to put a proposal on the Metro Council agenda for consideration. If approved, sworn officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department will get a 15-percent pay increase and non-sworn staff will get a 3-percent pay increase.

If the plan moves forward, the pay raises would start in May.
