A closed furniture store in Baton Rouge is being rented out by the state.

The Louisiana Secretary of State's Election Division is using the former Conn's Home Plus location to store election machines.

State officials say they're leasing the site for $40,000 a month through the end of January 2028.

This comes as the state works to acquire new voting machines that have a paper ballot component that requires climate-controlled storage.
