For the first time ever, women riders will participate in the St. Joseph Society's annual parade.
The formerly all-male Italian-American society was founded in 1970 and named in honor of St. Joseph, the patron saint of Sicily.
The society recently started allowing women to join, and about 40 women have signed up to ride this year.
This year's Grand Marshal will be Lena Prima, whose father, jazz legend Louis Prima, reigned as Grand Marshal 50 years ago.
The parade rolls in the French Quarter on March 28.
