North Louisiana Experiences 2nd Largest Earthquake In State History

Residents in north Louisiana experienced the second largest earthquake in the state's history.

Reports of a shaking sensation were felt at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The USGS says that there was a magnitude 4.9 earthquake north of Edgefield.

The largest earthquake occurred in Grand Isle in 2006, registering at a 5.3 magnitude.

Over 1,000 people are reported to have felt the shaking.
