Residents of both East and West Baton Rouge Parishes are expressing opposition to a possible ICE detention facility in Port Allen.

West Baton Rouge Parish President Jason Manola says he was surprised when he read a Washington Post report that said ICE may be interested in a vacant piece of land on Commercial Drive.

Residents say the proposed site is too close to the parish's visitor center, several hotels, an apartment complex, and nearby businesses.

Manola says no property has been bought in the parish for a detention center.
