A Louisiana lawmaker wants eligible people to be allowed to carry guns on university campuses.
Republican Rep. Danny McCormick of Shreveport has authored a bill that would allow campus carry by anyone over age 18 who can legally own a gun.
The bill would apply to public colleges and universities, as well as private schools that receive state funding.
Guns wouldn't be allowed into disciplinary or administrative hearings, campus medical or mental health treatment centers, places where guns are banned by federal law, or events with security screenings or limited access.
