A New Roads police officer is in custody and accused of distributing oxycodone.
East Baton Rouge Parish deputies conducted a controlled purchase operation on Wednesday with an informant wearing a wire.
Afterwards, deputies arrested Quincy Lathers of Denham Springs, who reportedly sold the informant 50 oxycodone pills.
Livingston Parish deputies searched Lathers's home the same day and found promethazine, $3,800 in cash, and a rifle.
Lathers is charged with drug distribution and possession of a gun with controlled dangerous substances, since his police handgun was in his car.
