Former Saints quarterback Drew Brees is on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame after being elected Thursday on his first ballot.
Brees played 20 NFL seasons, spending five years with the San Diego Chargers followed by 15 with New Orleans before retiring in 2021.
He signed with New Orleans in 2006, the year after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
Brees led the Saints to nine winning seasons, nine playoff victories, and the Super Bowl championship in the 2009 season.
In other news, NFL fans voted Saints QB Tyler Shough as the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year.
