A new mixed-use development is now under construction in North Baton Rouge.
State and local officials attended Monday's groundbreaking ceremony, which kicked off construction of a project that's been on the drawing board for years.
The project on Harding Boulevard is expected to be finished by the middle of next year. It will include a grocery store, retail shops, medical offices, small businesses, and a DMV office.
Officials say the development will create economic opportunities in the area.
