East Baton Rouge Parish voters will decide this summer on a tax proposal that would fund the parish's 15 public libraries for the next ten years.

The Metro Council introduced a resolution on Tuesday calling for a special election for the new millage tax proposition. If passed, it would support the East Baton Rouge Parish Library through 2036.

The new tax will fund operational services for parish libraries, including staff, books, technology, supplies, utilities, maintenance, contractual services and capital improvements.
