Gov. Jeff Landry says Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion requirements are no longer a part of Louisiana's Civil Service system.

Landry made the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday, stating that hiring decisions at Louisiana departments and agencies will be made "strictly on the basis of merit" instead of DEI.

The change applies only to civil service requirements, since private employers in the state aren't required to follow civil service rules.
