The Supreme Court heard arguments today in a case over whether oil companies are responsible for damaging Louisiana's coastline.

Several Louisiana parishes have already been awarded $745 million in state court, but Chevron wants the case moved to federal court.

The company argues that since it had federal contracts to provide aviation fuel in World War II, a federal law mandates that the current issue should be handled in federal court.

The oil industry argues that if Chevron loses, American oil production could suffer.
