Louisiana is switching from open primaries to closed primaries in certain key races this year.

Secretary of State Nancy Landry stated on Monday that Democrats will be allowed to vote only in the Democratic primary, and Republicans will be allowed to vote only in the GOP primary.

The change affects the races for U.S. House and U.S. Senate, the state Supreme Court, the Public Service Commission, and the state education board.

Voters registered under "no party" will be allowed to decide which party primary they want to vote in.
