EBR Couple Arrested, Three Victims Rescued In Human Trafficking Probe

A husband and wife from Baton Rouge are in custody after a human trafficking investigation.

East Baton Rouge Parish deputies arrested Maurilio Vargas and Zabdi Guzman-Diaz last Thursday.

Acting on a tip, officials started an investigation in January that ended with last week's raids on a house in Baton Rouge and another in Kenner.

The couple are charged with human trafficking, promoting prostitution, and other charges.

Deputies rescued two Baton Rouge women and a Kenner woman who were trafficking victims.
