The fallout from LSU's firing of Brian Kelly continued Monday with the announcement that offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan had been relieved of his duties.
Sloan was in his fourth season with the Tigers. He joined the staff in 2022 as quarterbacks coach and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2024.
The move comes after the school parted ways with Kelly Sunday following a 49-25 loss to Texas A&M, the Tigers' third of the season.
“When Coach Kelly arrived at LSU four years ago, we had high hopes that he would lead us to multiple SEC and national championships during his time in Baton Rouge,” Athletic Director Scott Woodward said in a press release. “Ultimately, the success at the level that LSU demands simply did not materialize, and I made the decision to make a change after last night’s game."
Associate head coach/running backs coach Frank Wilson will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season.
LSU (5-3 overall, 2-3 SEC) is on a bye week. They next face the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on November 8.
