Baton Rouge leaders are seeking $200,000 in state funds for upgrades to the aging East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center.
Mayor Sid Edwards is asking the Metro Council to approve an agreement with the state for the funds to make needed repairs to the 65-year-old building.
The facility is in constant use, and its pipes, electrical wiring, and windows take a beating. The place still has its original 1960 plumbing.
