Waterways in Ascension and Livingston Parishes are closed to recreational traffic because of rising water levels.
Parishes leaders said the emergency closures took effect at noon Sunday and will be in place until further notice. The order doesn't include commercial boaters and emergency watercraft.
Officials say ongoing high east winds from a weather system in the Gulf are causing the rising water levels.
