Louisiana Honors Three Baton Rouge Area Educators

The state is honoring three educators from the Baton Rouge area with prestigious annual awards.

Regena Hartley Beard, a science teacher at Copper Mill Elementary in Zachary, is Teacher of the Year.

Justin Wax, principal of Denham Springs Junior High in Livingston Parish, was named Principal of the Year.

Olivia Francois, a 10th-grade civics teacher at Dutchtown High School in Ascension Parish, is the New Teacher of the Year.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in New Orleans on Saturday, hosted by the Louisiana Department of Education and Dream Teachers.
