A man is being held without bond after allegedly ramming a Baton Rouge police officer.

Gad Black, 41, is accused of knocking Sergeant Caleb Elsworth off his police motorcycle and dragging the officer for over 500 feet on Monday.

Elsworth suffered two broken legs and a broken arm, but has since shown signs of improvement.

Black is charged with attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, hate crimes, and resisting an officer.

After a bond hearing this week, he is due back in court for a sanity hearing in September.
