ExxonMobil is announcing an upgrade to its Baton Rouge Complex that will put it in the supply chain of semiconductor chip manufacturing.
Following the $100 million upgrade, the facility will begin producing high-purity isopropyl alcohol in 2027.
The chemical is used to clean and prevent damage to microchips, which power cars, cell phones, laptops, and other digital devices.
A spokesperson for Louisiana Economic Development applauded the move to expand domestic manufacturing instead of relying on imports.
