Two sixth-graders in East Baton Parish face charges after being caught with a gun at school.

Deputies responded around 2 p.m. to Capitol Middle Magnet School after administrators told them they'd found out about two students with a firearm on the campus.

Investigators found the unloaded handgun in a backpack.

They arrested two boys, ages 12 and 13, who had reportedly made no threats.

The boys are charged with illegally carrying a gun on school property and illegal handgun possession by a juvenile.
