Due to the threat of severe weather, organizers of the 40th Annual Wearin' of the Green Parade in Baton Rouge have moved the event's date from Saturday to Sunday at Noon.
Parade officials cited the threat of lightning, strong wind and a possible tornado as factors in the decision.
"This decision wasn’t made lightly and consisted of the expert opinions from the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the EBR Mayor’s Office, local law enforcement, State Climatologist Jay Grimes and local media meteorologists," read a post on the parade's Facebook page Wednesday.
"The safety of the parade participants and the tens of thousands of people who have enjoyed the parade for decades is paramount," the post continued.
