New weapon detectors are coming to four East Baton Rouge Parish high schools this month.

The Board approved the purchase of four machines that use AI technology to spot weapons in a matter of seconds.

They can check 1,000 students in 15 minutes, and will replace metal detectors that resulted in long lines as students checked in.

The machines will be placed at Scotlandville Magnet High School, Woodlawn High School, Belaire Magnet High School, and McKinley High School.
