A Baton Rouge man is accused of hitting a Denham Springs police officer with his car on Wednesday.
The accident happened on US 190 near Summers Street, where the officer was directing traffic near the scene of a car fire.
Police arrested Christopher Schmidt for vehicular negligent injury, not having a license plate on his trailer, and not obeying police officers.
The injured officer is expected to recover.
