Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong is out on bond following his arrest on charges involving prostitutes and drugs.
The Louisiana State Police say Truong and six other suspects were arrested on Tuesday after an investigation lasting several months. Troopers seized opioids, marijuana, THC and MDMA.
The suspects reportedly sold narcotics and used some of the profits to buy guns that ended up in the hands of people who can't legally own them. Some of the guns were reportedly used to commit crimes in Bogalusa.
Officials say more arrests are expected, since the narcotics ring reportedly has about 20 members.
