A homicide investigation is underway following the discovery of a body in a burning sugar cane field on Wednesday afternoon.
The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says some sugar cane farmers found the body while trying to put out the fire.
Deputies responded around 4 p.m. to the scene on Sid Richardson Road in Addis.
Investigators haven't yet said if the body is that of a man or a woman. The body is believed to have been in place for days, and foul play is suspected in the person's death.
