The Pelicans are unlikely to have a member of their rotation for the start of the regular season later this month.

New Orleans forward Trey Murphy III will likely miss the start of the season due to a right hamstring strain.

The 24-year-old averaged 14.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 57 games played last season.

Murphy will be re-evaluated in three weeks after an MRI confirmed the strain that he sustained during a training camp practice.

The Pelicans open preseason play at home against the Orlando Magic Monday.

The regular season opener is October 23 against the Chicago Bulls, also at the Smoothie King Center.
