As of today, a pair of abortion drugs are now considered dangerous controlled substances in Louisiana.

Republican Gov. Jeff Landry signed a law in May to reclassify Mifepristone and Misoprostol. Under the law, it's illegal for anybody to possess the drugs without a prescription.

Proponents believe the new classification may help prevent coerced abortions. Some doctors are concerned that the law could delay access to the drugs, which have other valid medical uses.
