Leaders from the breakaway city of St. George and East Baton Rouge City-Parish will meet today to try to work out a transition plan.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome presented a transition proposal almost a month ago.
Under her proposal, the City-Parish would continue to provide services while sending St. George $600,000 a month as its share of a two-percent sales tax.
The proposal lists St. George's incorporation date as July 1st, 2024. St. George leaders say the Secretary of State certified the date as 2019.
